Kevin Durant: Is this the clue Warriors star is heading to Lakers next year? | Other | Sport

Durant’s future has been a hot topic for the last six months as he has entered the final year of his contract.

It is thought the small forward feels the need to win the NBA Championship with more than one franchise to strengthen his legacy.

And the Lakers are the frontrunners with the bookmakers with odds of 3/2 on offer for Durant to move to south California.

Luke Walton’s side are in the market for new additions to bolster their ranks following the acquisition of LeBron James this summer.

For Durant to pen an extension with the Warriors, punters could get odds of 3/1.

Philadelphia 76ers are a surprise addition at third in the standings at 5/1.

New York Knicks have a slightly longer shot at signing the two-time NBA Champion with odds of 15/2.

Those chances will have been slashed because of Durant’s comments condemning a billboard which was plastered near Madison Square Garden depicting him in a Knicks uniform.

Durant is odds on to leave the Warriors because of a recent spat with team-mate Draymond Green.

Durant was furious with Green for not passing him the ball during the overtime defeat to LA Clippers.

But he has tried to quash any reports of a move away based solely on that argument.

“I never really felt like it was a problem, because I know Dray and he says some crazy (expletive) out his mouth all the time,” Durant told Yahoo Sports.

“But on top of that, it was just that there was so much coming with it from the outside, and so much stuff that we have to answer now.

“I was upset, but I know that I can’t hold on to something like this.

“I know that I’ve got to make a choice with myself, like how long are you going to be upset about this to the point where you’re going to let it affect what you do on the floor or how you approach the game?”
