LeBron James reacts to 2OT thriller between Nets, Hornets

LeBron James of the Los Angeles Lakers was in die-hard basketball fan mode as he tuned in to the double-overtime thriller between the Brooklyn Nets and Charlotte Hornets.

Via Twitter, James revealed that he’s been watching the game since tip-off:

The Nets eventually won, 134-132, thanks to a defensive play by Joe Harris which he finished off with a lay-up on the other end. Along with the game-winning lay-up, Harris had 27 points and six rebounds. Teammate Spencer Dinwiddie had a game-high 37 points and 11 assists.

The Hornets, meanwhile, got contributions from Kemba Walker who dropped 35 points, Jeremy Lamb who had 31 points, and Marvin Williams who had a double-double with 14 points, and 11 rebounds.

LeBron James, for his part, is resting his strained groin which he injured in their Christmas day victory over the defending champions, the Golden State Warriors. Per Shams Charania of The Athletic, James’ MRI came out clean and is listed as day-to-day.

The Lakers will visit the Sacramento Kings on Thursday. After which, a four-game homestand will ensue wherein they’ll face the L.A. Clippers, Kings, the Oklahoma City Thunder, and the New York Knicks.

They currently have a 20-14 record which is good for fourth place in the Western Conference. There’s no confirmation yet as to how many games James will miss. But it would be interesting to find out how the young guns will operate without their leader.
